How best to describe Glen Rose? Raconteur? Cabaret-style entertainer? Educator? Broadway historian? The versatile Mr. Rose dazzles his audiences with a complete musical experience that highlights a special slice of Americana known as Tin Pan Alley. Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of this treasured time, his shows bring to life the music of Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, and the great Harry Warren. Glen's shows are built on references, fun stories, jokes and "bits" surrounding the songs that were written by the great Tin Pan Alley composers and lyricists. In Glen's own words, "I truly love bringing the music and times alive for my audiences, giving them a very fun history lesson on what was happening when these songs were written. I also love inviting my audiences to join in and have fun with me." Like the great George M. Cohan, Glen Rose was born in Hollywood, California on the Fourth of July. He is one of the country's most devoted performers of classic American show tunes. He grew up working with his father, an orchestrator at 20th Century Fox, during the period when the studio produced a number of Irving Berlin musicals, including Alexander's Ragtime Band. Exposed at a young age to such luminaries as Quincy Jones, Nelson Riddle, and Henry Mancini, Glen gained an appreciation for classic American music. With his tap dancing, he carries on the tradition of dance from his mother, who performed on television and was a West Coast Swing Champion. In the 1970s, Glen was a music professor and musical director for theater productions in Northern California. For ten years, he toured, entertaining in nearly every country in Western Europe. He says, " I would perform six nights a week for months on end, just traveling from one European piano bar to another". He is the author of a popular music notation textbook endorsed by film composer and Boston Pops Conductor John Williams. Glen has also composed over 100 on-air jingles. He now tours the Unites States with his popular American songwriters series. Glen is not only an accomplished vocalist and pianist, but also a tap dancer and player of both ukulele and guitar. Audiences are often surprised to find him doing some of these things at the same time! Glen enriches his programs with his gift for storytelling. His programs are artfully spiced with interesting and humorous anecdotes, as well as the vibrant living history of each artist and his times. Glen Rose American Songwriter Series, features nine unique shows: A Musical Tribute to Rogers and Hart Harry Warren Show, "Lullaby of Broadway on 42nd Street" Glen Rose's American Songwriter Series
